Midsouth Steel, a leader in structural steel fabrication and erection for over 25 years, is seeking a dedicated Shop Safety Coordinator to support and enhance safety operations across our two neighboring fabrication facilities.
This role is critical to maintaining a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with regulations, and protecting the well-being of our team. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and passionate about workplace safety in an industrial environment.

Midsouth Steel, a leader in structural steel fabrication and erection for over 25 years, is seeking a dedicated Shop Safety Coordinator to support and enhance safety operations across our two neighboring fabrication facilities.
This role is critical to maintaining a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with regulations, and protecting the well-being of our team. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and passionate about workplace safety in an industrial environment.
- Serve as the primary safety representative for all shop and office new hires during onboarding
- Deliver job-specific safety orientations
- Ensure employees understand and commit to all safety policies and procedures
- Partner with company Safety Managers to evaluate, improve, and enforce shop safety practices
- Conduct shop audits and address safety concerns based on audit findings
- Maintain and manage OSHA logs and ensure accurate, timely reporting
- Oversee and regularly review emergency evacuation plans for both shop and office environments
- Provide safety training for shop employees on machinery, tools, and equipment
- Ensure safe loading practices and compliance standards are met for Midsouth Steel transport trucks
- Support employees with work-related medical care, including attending appointments when necessary
- OSHA 30 or OSHA 511 Certification (General Industry – 29 CFR 1910) required
- Additional safety certifications will be considered
- Knowledge of incident investigation
- Bilingual in English and Spanish required
- Strong understanding of Experience Modification Rate (EMR) and its impact on workers’ compensation
- Prior experience in a fabrication or machine shop environment
- Equipment certifications (or the ability to obtain and train others) for:
- Overhead cranes
- Forklifts
- Plasma cutters
- Welding equipment
